Serves: 8
Ingredients
- 1-½ cup Heavy cream
- 1-½ cup Whole milk
- 2-½ cups Shelled strawberries half sliced and half whole
- ¾ cups Sugar
- ½ teaspoon Vanilla extract
Preparation
Puree whole strawberries (frozen if you have them) in a blender; add enough milk to the recipe to make it swirl. Place sliced strawberries in a large, wide-bottomed bowl; sprinkle them with sugar. Let them sit for 30 to 40 minutes. Mash them with an old fashioned potato masher.
In the same bowl you mashed the strawberries in, add the pureed strawberries, heavy cream, remaining milk and vanilla extract. Mix everything together and pour into the freezer bowl of the ice cream maker. Follow the instructions for your ice cream maker. Check the ice cream after 35 minutes to see if it’s ready. It’s ready when it’s a soft texture.
If you keep frozen strawberries at home, use them for the pureed portion of the recipe.
