An amazing fall breakfast or dessert, these roasted apples are coated in browned butter and honey, then tossed with sesame seeds. Crisp apples soak up the syrupy goodness to create the perfect warm, mouth-watering bite. Best served with thick Greek yogurt or whipped cream. Add granola or nuts for a little crunch. You can also turn this into an apple pie filling for a little twist on the classic.

Preparation: 10 minutes

To cook: 25 minutes

Level: Easy

Serves: 2

Ingredients

  • 2 whole Red apples, preferably Gala or Honeycrisp
  • 2 tablespoons Melted unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • ½ teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 pinch Sea salt
  • 1 tbsp Sesame seeds

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 425°F.

Start by core your apples. Cut each apple into quarters then cut each quarter diagonally to create triangular shaped slices.

Melt the butter and honey in a small saucepan over low heat. Be sure not to brown the butter as this will happen later during the roasting process.

Add the cinnamon and salt to the pan. Remove the pan from the heat and toss the apples into the melted butter mixture. Make sure they are all well coated.

Spread the apples on a baking sheet and pour the remaining liquid over the apples. Roast for 15 minutes, then toss the apples to ensure even cooking and coat the apples with any liquid that collects on the pan.

Bake the apples for 10 more minutes or you can easily pierce the apples with a fork.

Remove the apples from the skillet excluding any liquid that may have burned on the edges of the skillet. Serve with Greek yogurt and nuts or granola. You can also serve with fresh cream or cheese for a tastier finish.
