Serves: 8
Ingredients
- 1-½ tbsp Packaged light brown sugar
- 1-½ tbsp Paprika
- 1 tbsp Cumin
- ½ teaspoon Ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- £4 Beef brisket, trimmed
- 2 Large onions, thickly sliced
- ¾ cups Beer (unflavoured)
- 1 cup Your favorite barbecue sauce
Preparation
In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, paprika, cumin, black pepper, salt, onion powder and garlic powder. Rub the whole breast on both sides and leave for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 300ºF. Place the brisket in a large roasting pan (fat side down) and cover with sliced onions. Pour beer and barbecue sauce on top. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 3 1/2 to 4 hours. You can check if the brisket is done by cutting a small piece off the edge and seeing if it comes off with a gentle tug.
Remove from pan and cut off any excess fat. Brush with any additional sauce and place under the broiler or on the grill for 1-2 minutes. Flip and repeat for the other side. Stay close because broilers are unpredictable.
Cover and let stand 20 to 30 minutes. Slice across the grain at a perpendicular angle. If desired, serve with additional barbecue sauce.
