Serves: 10
Ingredients
- 1 cup White rice
- 1 stick Cinnamon
- 1 Vanilla pod
- ½ cups Almonds
- 4 cups Water
- 2 cups Milk
- 6 ounces, liquid Sweetened condensed milk
- 1 box (12 oz. Size) Evaporated Milk
Preparation
Soak the rice, cinnamon stick, vanilla (scrape up the flesh) and almonds in a bowl with water for 5 hours or overnight (the longer it soaks, the easier it will be to mix).
Once soaked, pour everything into a blender. At this point, add the milk, condensed milk and evaporated milk and mix at maximum speed for a few minutes. The rice and cinnamon stick should be soft enough to pulverize in your blender. You may need to do this in batches, depending on the size of your blender.
Prepare a large bowl with a colander and cheesecloth. There are a lot of little bits of grain in the mix that will only be caught by the cheesecloth, so this part is really important. You can also try using a coffee filter, but it will take forever to get the liquid through.
Gradually strain the liquid through the cheesecloth, stopping every few seconds to help it pass with a ladle or spoon.
Once the mixture is completely strained, transfer the mixture to your favorite pitcher. Serve and enjoy!
