One of my favorite recipes from one of my favorite people!

Preparation: 15 minutes

Cook: 30 mins

Level: Easy

Update

Ingredients

  • 1 head Cabbage, cut into 6 or 8 wedges
  • 2 tablespoons Butter, plus more for greasing the pan
  • 2 tablespoons Flour
  • 1-½ cup Milk
  • 1 whole Cheez Wiz container
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup Grated Pepper Jack Cheese
  • 1 whole Jalapeno pepper, sliced into rounds, seeds removed
  • Paprika for sprinkling

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 9 inch by 9 inch baking dish.

Bring a medium pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Steam the cabbage wedges for 1 to 2 minutes. Drain well, cut out pits, then arrange in prepared baking dish.

In a nonstick skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the flour and cook for a minute or two. Whisk the milk and cook until it begins to thicken. Turn off the heat and stir in the Cheez Wiz. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, then stir in the grated jack pepper. Pour over cabbage. Sprinkle with jalapeno slices and sprinkle with paprika. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden and bubbly.

Note: This makes a good amount of cheese sauce, which might be enough for more cabbage if desired.
