Level: Easy
Ingredients
- FOR THE MONKEY BREAD:
- ½ pound Turkey breakfast sausage, cooked
- 6 Large eggs, soft scrambled
- 1 box (16 oz size) Refrigerated Cookies
- 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup Grated cheddar cheese
- FOR THE CHEESE SAUCE:
- 2 tablespoons Butter without salt
- 2 tablespoons Flour
- 2 cups Whole milk
- 1 cup Grated cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh chives, to garnish
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
Cook sausages and eggs; put aside.
Remove the cookies from the packaging and cut them into six pieces. Place the cookie pieces in a large bowl and mix with the melted butter. Add scrambled eggs, sausage and grated cheese, and stir to combine. I like to use my hands and make sure all the cookies are separated and the butter coating and the eggs and sausage are evenly distributed.
Pour the mixture into a greased 6 cup tube pan. Bake at 350ºF for 30 minutes. Let cool in pan 5-10 minutes, then use a knife or spatula to loosen edges. Invert the bread onto a plate.
For the cheese sauce:
Melt the butter in a small saucepan. When bubbly, add flour and whisk continuously until golden brown, about 2 minutes. Whisk the milk so that there are no lumps. Continue whisking until thickened, about 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in cheese until melted and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Drizzle the finished cheese sauce over the slightly cooled monkey bread. Garnish with chives and serve immediately.
