Serves: 2
Ingredients
- 12 ounces, weight Fine green beans, trimmed
- 3 tablespoons Salted butter (or unsalted with an extra pinch of salt)
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- ½ teaspoon Powdered red peppers
- ½ whole Meyer lemon, very thinly sliced
- ¼ cups Fresh basil leaves
Preparation
Arrange an oven rack about 8 inches from the top and preheat the grill to high heat. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or cooking spray.
Place green beans in a medium bowl to mix. In a small bowl, melt the butter in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Stir in onion powder, garlic powder, salt and crushed red pepper. Pour the butter/spice mixture over the green beans and toss to coat well.
Spread the buttered green beans on the baking sheet in a single layer. Place the Meyer lemon slices directly on the green beans. Roast for 8-12 minutes (depending on your oven), checking after 7 minutes to make sure the beans are bubbling but not burning. My green beans took 11 minutes to char and cook.
When the beans are tender and dark around the edges and the lemon slices have started to caramelize, remove them from the oven. Scatter the basil leaves on top and serve hot. Enjoy!
