Level: Easy
Serves: 18
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons White sugar
- 2 teaspoons Cinnamon
- 6 slices Texas Toast (or other thick bread, such as challah)
- ½ cups Milk, any type (I used 2%)
- 3 Eggs
- 2 tablespoons Packaged light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1 pinch Nutmeg
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Line a large baking dish with parchment paper or grease well with nonstick cooking spray. Put aside.
In a small bowl, whisk the white sugar and cinnamon. Put aside.
Cut each slice of bread into 3 strips. Put aside.
In a medium bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. Dip each slice of bread in egg mixture, letting excess drip off. Place on prepared pan and sprinkle each stick with half of the cinnamon sugar topping.
Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven, flip sticks to opposite side and sprinkle with remaining cinnamon sugar topping. Return to oven and bake 10 to 12 minutes more, or until French toast sticks are cooked through and golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool 5 minutes before serving.
Serve with syrup for dipping, if desired. Enjoy!
