Make these bacon-wrapped hot dogs any way you like! I give tips for crisping the bacon and preventing it from unraveling. Have you ever heard of a dangerous dog?
Preparation:
To cook:
Level: Easy
Serves: 4
Ingredients
- 4 The hot dogs
- 4 slices Bacon
Preparation
Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper, aluminum foil or a silicone baking mat.
Cut 4 diagonal slits in each hot dog and wrap bacon around each hot dog diagonally. Secure each end of the bacon with a toothpick.
Place on the baking sheet and cook until the bacon is completely cooked to your liking. It took me about 15 minutes.
Remarks:
• When buying bacon that I will use to wrap something like these hot dogs or asparagus, I look for one that has 60-70 calories per slice. Most bacon has 80 calories per slice, but there are a few, like the Smithfield brand.
• While I use thin bacon, I used larger hot dogs. This keeps the hot dogs from getting really overcooked while the bacon gets crispy.
• Find lower carb hot dogs like Nathan’s with only 1 carb.
