Ingredients
- 1 Ripe And Supple Lime
- 1 tbsp Sugar, or to taste
- Ice
- 3 ounces, liquid cachaça or vodka
Preparation
Wash the lime well to remove impurities from the skin. Cut the top and bottom of the lime just to remove the tips and expose some of the lime flesh. Don’t take off too much. Cut the limes in half from top to bottom lengthwise. Using a sharp knife, remove the central white section that runs down the middle. Cut each half into 4 equal pieces.
Place the 8 pieces skin side down in the bottom of an 8 ounce cup. Add the cane sugar. Mix the lime and sugar together until the lime syrup is even on top of the limes.
Fill the glass to the top with crushed ice. Pour cachaça or vodka over the ice to fill the glass. Finally, use a cocktail spoon to stir the bottom well to mix the syrup with the alcohol.
Taste for sweetness. Adjust the sugar as needed. Serve.
Note: This recipe makes 1 caipirinha. You will need a cocktail muddler.
